Eastern Ridge provides the ideal transition year between preschool and more formal academics. Academic pressure is increasing on young children, yet research shows they benefit socially, emotionally and cognitively from unstructured play and from spending time in nature. We allow young learners to grow by viewing them as complete and capable individuals, with the right to develop their own educational experiences alongside their teachers.
In our kindergarten program, we also provide more in-depth studies, and part of the day focuses on directed curriculum. Our small class size allows for hands-on experimentation, small-group learning, project work and guided discovery. We “learn by doing,” which allows for deep exploration of topics. We offer a hands-on approach to learning, plus development of children’s social, collaborative and emotional skills. Our program develops a passion for learning and prepares children for first grade in traditional or progressive learning environments.
